Security and Convenience

99% of the time the words Secure and Convenient are seen on the opposite sides of the spectrum: if it is secure then it is not convenient, if it is easy to use then it must be completely insecure.

Throughout my entire IT career I've been exposed to many self-defeating security policies. For example, "your password must include at least 2 digits, punctuation characters, upper and lower case letters, cannot be shorter than X characters, it must be changed every two weeks, you cannot reuse 10 of your last passwords and under no circumstances can you write the password down.". Oh, and "if you mistype your password 3 times then your account will be locked out and it might take more than a day to unlock the account."

The truth is that if something is difficult to apply or remember then most probably it won't be used after all. And the security is only as strong as the weakest link.

The purpose of 1Passwd is to make security convenient and easy. 1Passwd can generate unique password for every web login using the maximum allowed password length. There is no need to memorize the passwords, write them down, or use the clipboard to copy and paste. The passwords are stored on standard Mac OS X Keychain and take advantage of system backup and synchronization features.

1Passwd is designed for Mac OS X only (after all everyone is moving to Mac). If you are stuck in Windows world, there is still Roboform.
